WHAT WE OFFER—ELITE AND MASTERS TEAMS
Elite and Masters Teams
ORC supports its highest caliber male and female riders on its Men’s Elite Team and Women’s Elite Team. These Elite Teams help our most accomplished racers reach their full potential as competitive cyclists and ensure that they have a home organization close to their family and community through which they can continue to pursue their cycling goals, even if they spend a lot of time traveling to races around the U.S. or internationally.
Elite competitive cycling is an extremely demanding sport, both physically and emotionally. ORC’s Development Program provides the professional coaching necessary to physically develop riders to be nationally and internationally competitive racers, but they also need local mentors to help with their emotional development as well. ORC’s experienced mentors provide advice and guidance that is essential for nurturing an elite racer’s emotional growth. These elite racers then act as mentors themselves for other cyclists within ORC as well as the community at large. In this way, ORC’s mentoring reaches all levels of riders in the community, from children to men and women of all ages and stages of their development as cyclists.
ORC’s elite racers are primarily developed from within its own Junior, Women’s and Development Programs. The Elite Teams support and showcase these top racers and help them compete on national and international levels.
According to USAC, masters cycling (age 35 and above) is the fastest growing category of amateur competitive cycling, and masters cycling in Florida is extremely competitive. ORC fields several masters teams, whose riders have had consistently good racing results at both local and state events.
ELITE TEAM RESULTS:
The ORC men’s team riders have proven themselves to be able to compare with the best in the country by winning state championships and local races on a regular basis. They also travel around the country competing in national events and have raced in Europe on the US national team. These riders will be competing for spots on the US National and Worlds teams while competing at the biggest National Racing Calendar (NRC) events in the country.
