Community Service
ORC is more the just a bike club. While promoting the sport of cycling, it gives back to the Central Florida community in a variety of ways, including the following:
PARAMORE RIDE FOR PRIDE AND BIKE BUILDING FOR UNDERPRIVELDGED CHILDREN
ORC assisted with bike repairs on children’s personal bikes, helmet fitting, and leading a ride through the downtown streets of the Paramore district. Giving underprivileged children an opportunity to ride safely through the streets of their own neighborhoods. ORC also provided mechanical help building bikes for a bike give-away on another occasion.
MOUNT DORA BIKE FESTIVAL
ORC helps the City of Mount Dora with its annual 2-day Bike Festival by providing ride marshals and leaders to assist participants during the numerous organized rides. This highly successful local event, now in its 30th year, draws thousands of participants from all over the county.
MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS 150
ORC was on hand both days providing mechanical and logistical support for this very popular two day event. ORC lead training rides to help acclimate new riders.
BICYCLE AND SAFETY AWARENESS PROGRAMS
We support and participate in local Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committees and Florida Bicycle Association events. In Volusia County we assisted in planning the Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) with safety awareness day. We also assisted in planning and participating in the Volusia county trail days celebration by sponsoring a booth and leading trail rides
